THE FAITH & MISSION PROGRAMME
2008 Autumn Term: 22nd Sept - 12th Dec
2009 Autumn Term: 21st Sept - 11th Dec
This three-month programme offers the opportunity
for personal growth and renewal in a community setting.
The focus is on developing a Right Relationship
with others, the earth, self and God, through the
practice of presence to self. This will lead participants
to a renewed commitment to their mission and ministry
in the world.
The core content of the programme will include:
- Personal Journey: the path to human
wholeness;
- Faith Journey: reading the scripture to illuminate
the journey;
- Christology: the following of Jesus, the pioneer
of the journey;
- Significant Story: an imaginal approach to
the struggle for wholeness;
- The Socio-cultural context of mission and
industry;
- Mission and Ministry in today's world;
- Care for the earth from a feminine perspective.
There will also be a six-day Directed Retreat and
workshops on Dreams, Pottery, Art etc., as well
as pilgrimages to ancient sites such as Glendalough
and Clonmacnoise. We encourage participants to take
what they want from the content provided and to
take the time and space they need for their own
personal renewal process.
The concept and practice of Right Relations is taken
as the focus, which gives the programme its overall
direction and coherence. Our nature as relational
beings means that we are always in a relationship
of 'give and take' with the various environments
in which we live. Human growth is seen as the movement
of relationship - with others, the earth, self and
God.
Central to the methodology of the programme is the
practice of Presence to Self. This involves developing
a meditative approach to life through practices,
which foster a compassionate, subjective knowing
of ourselves, which leads to change in our active
life.
However in our growth towards our own past history
and from the socio-cultural context in which we
live. The programme will offer opportunities to
critically examine and transform our patterns of
relating to our environments, which will lead to
new ways of exercising our ministry in the world
today.
To help those preparing for cross cultural mission
assignments, this programme also deals explicitly
with the major issues of contemporary cross-cultural
mission.
