THE GROWTH FOR MINISTRY PROGRAMME
2009 Winter/Spring term: 19th Jan - 12th Apr
This residential programme offers participants the
opportunity to continue with their process of personal
growth. It presupposes that participants will have
already engaged in a reflective way of their own
process of growth. The focus of this programme will
be on facilitating Self-transcendence in relationship
with the service of others.
The core content of the Programme will include:
- Personal Journey II: the path to human
transformation;
- Faith Journey: connecting with biblical pioneers
of the journey;
- Christology: the paschal mystery;
- Significant Story: an imaginal approach to
the struggle for wholeness;
- The shape of our world today - missionary
challenges;
- Mission and Ministry in today's world;
- Justice, peace and the integrity of creation;
- Celtic spirituality: example of a creation
spirituality.
The conviction underlying the planning and organisation
of this programme is that authentic personal growth
is not a private, individual process, but takes
place in and through relationship with others, and
that human maturity is characterised by an intrinsic
dynamisn to move beyond oneself and to be concerned
with others.
One finds one's true self only insofar as one reaches
out and goes beyond oneself in responding to the
values in each human situation in a way that is
free, critical and creative.
Through a variety of practices, such as reflection
and mediation, guided imagery and active imagination,
dreamwork etc., participants will have the opportunity
to listen for the 'voice' of their true self inviting
them to an authentic self-realisation, which will
be at the same time a transcending of oneself in
compassion towards others.
The input from psychological, biblical, spiritual
and theological resources will seek to provide a
theoretical framework within which participants
will be able to understand and integrate the insights
arising from their experimental work.
